How it all began?

More than 10 years ago, Steve Riabov moved to the United States and began his career here from the ground up. His first projects were small handyman jobs — simple repairs, upgrades, and home improvements. At the time, it was about gaining experience, understanding the market, and building trust with every client.

But even then, this was never the final goal. With a background in construction engineering and prior hands-on experience in the field, Steve always had a bigger vision — to build something meaningful and long-lasting.

2. US Handyman

After gaining experience and understanding how the industry works in the United States, Steve launched his first business: US Handyman.

It started small, with a strong focus on quality work and reliable service. As more clients trusted the work and recommended the business, it steadily grew. Over time, Steve was able to hire a crew, take on more projects, and expand operations across the area.

This stage laid the foundation — not just in terms of business growth, but in building a reputation for consistency, responsibility, and craftsmanship.

3. Growing Into Remodeling

With experience came confidence — and with confidence came bigger opportunities.

Steve continued to study, invest in better tools and equipment, and move into more complex home improvement projects. The work gradually shifted from small repairs to bigger remodels. As the company moved into larger and more complex remodels, Steve and the core team continued their professional training, completed the required exams, and earned a California General Contractor license through the Contractors State License Board (CSLB). Soon company expanded. More professionals with proven experience in construction, project management, and executing larger-scale projects joined the team.

This was the turning point where the company began evolving from a handyman service into a true full-scale remodeling business.

4. The MUSK Construction Era

That evolution led to the next major chapter: MUSK Construction.

The name was inspired by a belief in innovation, bold thinking, and building something big and forward-looking. Under this name, the company operated for more than 7 years and expanded significantly. 

During this time, the scope of work grew to include:

• Bathroom remodels
• Kitchen remodels
• ADUs, Additions
• Ground-up residential construction

These years were critical. They brought deep experience not only in construction itself, but also in managing complex projects, working with permits, coordinating trades, and delivering consistent results across different types of builds.

5. Why We Rebranded

Over time, it became clear that the company’s name and identity needed to evolve.

The inspiration behind the MUSK name no longer reflected Steve’s values or the direction the team wanted the business to take. Making the decision to rebrand was not easy. It required updating the company’s entire image, reworking our positioning, and guiding many existing clients through the transition. There were challenges along the way. Rebuilding recognition under a new name takes time and effort.

But overall, the transition was met with strong support. More importantly, it became a defining moment — an opportunity to reflect, reset, and clearly define who we are and where we’re rising to.

That’s how RISE GC was born.

For us, “RISE” represents growth, progress, and the commitment to always improve — both as a company and as a team serving our clients.

 

And now we RISE! 

What started with small handyman jobs has grown into a company built on experience, persistence, and continuous improvement. Every stage of our journey — from US Handyman to MUSK Construction to RISE GC — has shaped the way we work today.
